Things To Avoid While Buying Used Cars
In the time of economic meltdown, you my probably consider buying a used car. First of all, a used car will save you a few bucks and secondly, if you are considering driving a car for only a few years, nothing could be the best choice other than a used car. In other words, there is nothing wrong with opting for a used car, as long as you are hunting the right car! When it comes to used cars, there are a few things that are always best to avoid. Here are some of them:
- Any car without a service history: If you find a car without a comprehensive service history, there is nothing wrong with assuming that the car has not been serviced. In such a case, even if the person selling the car swears he always changed the oil himself, doesn’t make any difference. Look for a long service history in any used car, preferably most of the servicing done by the same mechanic or dealership. There are many used cars with such a background, be sure to find one!
- Any car with a salvage title: It’s always best to avoid a used car with a salvage title written off by the insurance company. Salvage title is written off when a car accounts for maximum percentage of damage, approximately seventy percent or complete loss. Remember, if the car had been worth fixing, the insurance company would have fixed it anyhow!
- A car with mismatched tires: When you shop for used cars, you may find many cars equipped with tires that are not in same shape. Most likely, with regular tire rotation and proper inflation, all four tires of any car should get tear and wear at similar rates. Thus, when you look for a used car, make sure that all four tires match each other in size, make and model.
