The 2010 Subaru Forester: The Ideal Machine for Off-Road Journey

The year 2010 Subaru Forester is all about power and fuel economy. Backed with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine and standard all-wheel-drive is what makes this car the most appropriate for ski trips and off-road exploring.

Highlights

Sized between a wagon and a small SUV, the Subaru Forester is a family car because of roomy interiors and its off-road capability. This turbocharged version of Subaru’s 2.5 liter flat four-cylinder will give you an extra pep.

Economical Drive with Forester

The Forester 2.5XT will give you a comfortable drive around the town. Its seat is high enough to give you a full view of the surroundings. You will get a light and nimble feel while driving the Forester as the engine moves without strain and the four-speed-automatic transmission gives transparent shifts. The SUV has an average fuel economy of 22mpg and gives 19mpg in the city and 24mpg on the highway.

While driving the Forester 2.5XT on a two lane mountain highway, you will feel more comfortable at moderate speed. The automatic transmission of the car has a manual mode but the limited gear number will make you prefer the automatic option.

Driving Comfort

When it comes to taking out the Forester on rough roads, the experience will again be comfortable. The suspension of the SUV is meant for easily overtaking bigger ruts and holes; you will not feel chunking along with the car. So, you can enjoy the surrounding nature through the panoramic sunroof of the Forester 2.5XT. Because the dirt road will hardly affect the all-wheel-drive system of the Forester, you can take it for ski trips on snow covered roads.

Areas where Forester Lacks

Some of you might be disappointed by seeing that the year 2010 Forester 2.5 XT lacks in technical options. The head unit space is still covered by the same stereo and disc changer that other Subaru’s have. The navigation system is the same as used in the year 2008 Impreza WRS, which lacks in some advanced features like traffic reporting. The year 2010 version can also be had with a satellite radio and the information of songs displayed on the screen.

One of the drawbacks of the Subaru Forester year 2010 model is its six-speaker audio system that lacks in iPod integration and performs a poor job. The audio system is limited to six speakers and tweeters of the system just blast out the sound, which won’t be pleasing for anyone’s ears. It seems that the audio system lacks in proper balance, thus creating a bad stereo effect for the passengers.

All in all the superb engine and handling of the year 2010 Subaru Forester makes it a drivable car for on and off-road exploring. Though the Forester 2.5XT is not a tech car and still has a five years old navigation system.
