Reasons For Vehicle No-Start Problems
There may be several times when you had to deal with a vehicle that does have starting problem. It is of course frustrating! It is very unfortunate for car owners and drivers that this problem springs up suddenly. There are a variety of issues that can be blamed for this type of vehicle problem. Let’s review some of them:
- Car engine starting problem can arise because of a battery issue. A dead battery could cause the engine not to start. If you hear a clicking sound when you turn the key, you can be sure of the problem. You can troubleshoot this problem by connecting the dead battery to the battery of an another vehicle through a set of jumper cables and then attempting to start both vehicles. It will work only when a dead or very weak battery is the reason behind the vehicle not starting.
- Fuel pump failure can also cause no-start problem in a vehicle. Fuel pump failure occurs when an owner does not replace the fuel filter in a timely manner. Besides, this can also happen with the owner’s constant failure to keep more than a quarter of a tank of gas in the tank or repeatedly running out of fuel. These cause the fuel pump to run dry, which damages the fuel pump and in most probable cases it may require to be replaced.
- Engine no-start problem can also be caused by a problem with the timing belt. Normally, vehicle timing belts should be replaced every 40,000 to 60,000 kms. People who do not maintain this in their scheduled maintenance end up stuck with a timing belt that breaks, which eventually results in a vehicle that will not start.
- Troubles with the electrical switches in a vehicle can also cause starting problems in vehicles. The switches need to be checked on a regular basis. Without regular maintenance faulty switches can not only cause no start problems, but they can also start fires.
