Hybrid car is a popular choice for the Americans. In recent years, it has become immensely popular. Honda Motors and Toyota Motor Corporation were the first ones to introduce hybrid cars in the U.S. in 2000. The best thing related to hybrid cars is that the US Government offers incentives to those consumers who are willing to buy these cars, as well as there are many corporations who provide free parking. These are the cars that run on rechargeable batteries and gasoline engines, unlike other cars that run on just a gasoline engine. The usage of batteries help a hybrid car in reducing the fuel emissions. Here are a few more interesting facts about hybrid cars:

  • “Mixte” was the world’s first ever hybrid car. It was built by Ferdinand Porsche in 1902.
  • Earlier, hybrid cars were known as “Semper Vivus,” which means “always alive.”
  • Toyota Prius was the first commercial hybrid car. It was manufactured in Japan in 1997.
  • A hybrid car reduces almost 90 percent of the smog, released to the environment. It also uses less gasoline as compared to normal conventional cars. Hybrid cars are best for the environment, especially at the time when the world is facing issues like global warming.
  • Hybrid cars are also very economical. They give 50-60 miles per gallon, while using only one third of gas which is used by any conventional cars.
  • Hybrid cars do not require any plug-in, they get recharged automatically as you drive.
  • They have lower depreciation rates as compared to other gasoline cars.
  • The government of the United States offers a tax rebate for the consumers who use hybrid cars.
  • This is true that hybrid cars are made of very expensive parts, however, they come with warranties, that promise free replacement.
  • Hybrid cars are not only meant for environmentalists, but also for capitalists, since they save on gasoline.
