The German manufacturers have been constantly in the news for their innovative technologies that they have been adding in the Mercedes Benz S-Class models since the beginning. At the Los Angeles Auto Show 2009, the tradition will continue to be seen. Last year in the month of December, a new technology called Splitview technology had been installed in the S-Class Benz models. This time it is the turn of the US market, where the sedan is about to be launched next month itself.

Mercedes Benz and Bosch had developed the Splitview technology mutually. The technology enables the dual usage of the center-mounted LCD screen that is installed in the S-Class. It lets both the driver and the front seat passenger to watch two different things of their choice at the same time. While the driver can access the navigation system to find the way, on the same screen the passenger can side-by-side watch a DVD too.

Besides the S400 blue hybrid Benz, Mercedes is also releasing the much anticipated ML450 hybrid which is slated for sale in late 2009. It is a collaboration of five major companies, namely Mercedes-Benz, General Motors, Daimler, Chrysler and BMW. This is the latest expansion in the ML Sports Utility Line. The ML range now becomes the first vehicle in the world to offer gasoline, diesel and hybrid alternatives! This Benz is equipped with amazing eco-friendly features which include liquid coolants that ensure that the cells operate at full efficiency and that its pack remains healthy. No hassles about overheating of the car as whenever the electrical system is under stress, a “super chiller” is used to blast the pack with coolant. There is also an advantage over its previous counterpart namely that it produces over 90% of the power generated by the V8 model but it consumes almost 50% less fuel than the ML 550 does. The estimate from EPA is 24 miles per gallon on the highway and 21 miles per gallon in the city. The Atkinson cycle is used to power the engine and it generates 275 horsepower by itself. (more…)

European manufacturers are all set to launch their first hybrid car in the Mercedes Benz category. Mercedes Benz is all set to launch its Mercedes Benz S400 Blue Hybrid car in the coming year 2010. Blue Hybrid is a complete luxury sedan and is the most fuel efficient vehicle produced till date by any manufacturer. It is not a full but mild hybrid car by Mercedes Benz as it doesn’t run alone on electric power to move ahead.

It would be the first hybrid car in the world that would include lithium ion cells in the battery instead of the nickel metal hydride that is generally used in the hybrid cars. This makes it the best hybrid in comparison with all the other hybrids that have been launched so far. Blue in the Benz denotes the green technology that would be used in the car.
