Car Noises- The Indication Of Car Malfunction
Car noises are very irritating and at the same time they cause sound pollution. But this is not just about car noises. The irritating noises can be the indication of any problem in a car or car machinery. Various types of unusual sounds actually alert the driver about some particular defects in the drivetrain. Thus, it is very important to understand these sounds in order to ensure your car’s longer life and have a hassle-free car ownership. Let’s discuss about some of the very common noises that people often notice:
Backfiring: Backfiring refers to the explosion produced by a running internal combustion engine. It usually occurs in the intake or exhaust system. This one is a very common sound, often experienced by the driver or a car owner. Backfire can be the result of various breakdown related to the air/fuel concentration inside the engine. Other causes of backfiring in an automobile engine include low fuel pressure, poor engine timing, weak fuel pumps, clogged fuel filters, a damaged catalytic converter and improper wiring in the ignition.
Knocking: Knocking occurs in spark-ignition internal combustion engines owing to incorrect combustion process. The type of the fuel you are using can be one of the reasons responsible for such a situation. Other causes for knocking include any change in the engine and worn camshaft. Allowing the vehicle engine to warm up before driving and avoiding hard accelerating when the engine is cold can help you avoid knocking.
Clatter: Clattering sound is often caused by insufficient and low grade engine oil, worn out valves and even badly adjusted valves, engine overheating and wrong ignition timing. People often use low grade engine oil to save their money, because they may not be aware of the fact that low grade engine oils cause engine overheating. Thus, in order to avoid clattering, use a higher grade quality engine oil or fuel. Along, regular check-up of various parts of the car is also very important.
