Car For All-Weather Driving

You probably need to drive your car everyday under any weather condition, but have you ever thought is your car right for all kinds of weather? While safety is the top concern for every car owner or driver, this particular question should be considered by everyone while they decide to buy a new car. It always helps to have a vehicle that can ensure a safe, smooth ride even in heavy rains or icy storms. However, if you do not have any plan to buy a new car, the least you can do is to be careful all the time.

According to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), there are over 6,400,000 vehicle crashes happen each year. And twenty-four percent of these crashes or approximately 1,561,000 crashes account for weather-related. The administration also says about 7,400 people are killed and more than 673,000 people are injured in weather-related crashes each year.

The FHWA also reports that the reason behind weather related crashes is mainly rain. As we all know rain reduces traction between a vehicle and road surface and at the same time maneuverability. Obstructed visibility is also one of the prime reasons for vehicle crashes in rainy weather. Thus, it is important to have a vehicle that is capable to perform in any unmerciful situation.

Talking about the safest cars  for all weather, the 2008 Porsche Cayman and
Cayman S are some of the best rainy-day cars. Both the cars from Porsche are equipped with most of the essential features needed for all-weather driving. They boast a dynamic wiper system, besides front and rear wipers, which feature optional rain sensors. The sensors activate the wipers when water is detected on the vehicle’s glass and shut off the rear wipers when the vehicle reaches speed above 131 mph.

Apart from this, both Cayman and Cayman S feature strong tire traction and mud guards in order to ensure further protection and Porsche Stability Management (PSM) System. The computerized PSM system uses data from an assortment of sensors to compare the speed of individual wheels, vehicle speed and engine speed to keep the car back under the driver’s control when it detects the car is slipping sideways or in case if its tires loose traction. Safety features like four-wheel disc and anti-lock brakes are some of the must-have auto features to ensure optimum performance in inclement weather.
