Car battery being one of the most important parts of a car, requires very good care. You probably do not want your car’s performance to be affected by a damaged battery. Regular check-up of the battery will definitely increase its life and prevent possible occurrence of various issues. • As part of your car battery maintenance routine, try to keep it clean. Use a clean cloth to wipe off the dust from the battery. It is very important to keep the battery dust free and clean, otherwise it may cause corrosion.
• Corroded surface of the battery can be cleaned with a solution of baking soda. 
• Use a good and covered battery case, which can protect the battery from harmful impact of dirt, grease and other external substances.
• Along, make sure that all the cables and battery connections are well maintained and cleaned. If there is corrosion, get it cleaned immediately.
• Use vaseline or other petroleum jelly to lubricate the cables on a regular basis, which will keep the cables clean for longer.
• Periodically, inspect the battery for any kind of damage, shell cracks, fluid leaks, or various other faults.
• Make sure the battery is fully charged. This is very important to ensure a longer life of the same.
• Make sure the terminals and cables are tight and properly attached, which would ensure proper flow of electric current. Also, tightened terminals and cables help prevent toxins from entering the car battery, which may damage the battery.
• Excessive or unnecessary use of electrical devices of the car can also diminish battery life. Thus, make sure you switch off devices like the car music system, cabin lights and air conditioner when they are not required.
• Check the level of electrolyte in the battery regularly. When the fluid level is low, add clean distilled water to the neck of the fill hole. Distilled water is used because it prevents the battery from the damaging effects of abrasive elements.
